About the Role
We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Counsellor || Therapeutic Case Manager to join our dedicated team in Cannonvale or Bowen. In this rewarding role, you’ll provide trauma-informed counselling and case management to empower clients on their recovery journey.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct client intake, assessment, and risk/safety planning
• Deliver trauma-informed counselling (individual and group)
• Provide immediate and ongoing support for victims of DFV and sexual violence
• Advocate for clients in court and assist with DFV orders
• Facilitate educational programs and community awareness initiatives
• Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with legislation
• Collaborate with agencies to enhance client safety and outcomes

Position Details & Remuneration
• Full-time role: 76 hours per fortnight
• Salary based on SCHADS Award Level 4–5 || $46.70 - $53.43 per hour
What You’ll Need
Essential:
• Diploma of Counselling
• Current Queensland Blue Card
• Current Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Social Sciences, Social Work, Psychology, or related discipline
• 2+ years’ experience in DFV or sexual violence support
• Understanding of trauma-informed practice
• Eligibility or working towards membership with AASW, APS, ACA, or PACFA

Whitsunday Counselling and Support Inc. is the region’s leading specialist domestic and family violence service, supporting individuals, families, and communities across the Whitsundays for over 30 years.
We are seeking two passionate and experienced Therapeutic Case Manager | DFV Embedded Worker | Intake Officers to join our team, working closely with the Queensland Police Service to provide early intervention, crisis support, and therapeutic responses to people impacted by domestic and family violence.
About the Role
This is a unique and highly rewarding role, combining:

Therapeutic counselling

Case management

Advocacy and court support

Multi‑agency collaboration
You will be based across Bowen and Cannonvale, including work within local police stations, delivering frontline responses and ongoing support to individuals and families impacted by domestic and family violence or sexual violence.
Key Responsibilities
-
Provide trauma‑informed counselling and therapeutic support
-
Conducting intake interviews and assessments for referred and self-referred clients
-
Assess eligibility for services
-
Conduct risk assessments, safety planning, and case management
-
Support client engagement and service navigation
-
Support clients through court processes and legal pathways
-
Work alongside Queensland Police and partner agencies
-
Deliver community education and awareness initiatives
-
Maintain compliant, accurate case notes and client records
-
Contribute to a child‑focused, culturally safe and strengths‑based practice
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
-
Experienced in domestic and family violence and/or trauma‑informed practice
-
Confident working with high‑risk and complex clients
-
Skilled in risk assessment and safety planning
-
A strong communicator who can build trust and engagement
-
Passionate about advocacy, empowerment, and client outcomes
Qualifications & Experience
-
Diploma in Counselling (minimum)
-
Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field (desirable)
-
Minimum 2 years’ experience working in DFV or similar field
-
Eligibility for AASW / ACA / APS membership (desirable)

Current QLD Blue Card (essential)
